Office holiday parties can be tricky. On one hand, you may relish the opportunity to get drunk on the company’s dime. On the other hand, you don’t really want your boss to see you sloshed. And you may be excited about having potential face-time with the CEO, but talking about work at a party could be seen as a downer, so what should you talk about?
Despite the trickytechnicalities, a recent survey conducted by Seamless.com‘s Corporate Accounts divisionshows that most people still look forward to their annual office holiday party, awkward-situation potential and all. They polled 1,197 full-time professionals and 51 percent reported they would be disappointed or somewhat disappointedif their office holiday party was canceled with another 24 percent saying they would be very disapointed if the party got canned.
Interestingly, more companies are boycotting alcohol and dancing than in the past. Forty-four percent of companies don’t serve alcohol at their company parties *up from 21 percent in 2012) and 70 percent don’t allow dancing (up from 37 percent in 2012).
