Storm complicates commutes…again

Though operating during the ongoing snowstorm, the MBTA has been hampered with delays.

All lines have suffered. The storm has forced shuttles to transport passengers on the Braintree branch from the JFK stop southward as a disabled train was stuck between Quincy Center and Quincy Adams snarling the morning commute.

Shuttle buses are also servicing the Orange Line between Oak Grove and Sullivan Square.

There was also a report of a disabled Red Line train at Park Street late this morning and a disabled Green Line train on the D branch heading west to Riverside. That line’s B branch was also delayed because a car was stuck on the tracks.

The snow and cold has been causing motor problems for many of the T’s antiquated subway cars in recent weeks as the city has endured more than five feet of snow during the last 17 days, a record for the city.

The storm overnight brought between six and twelve inches of snow on the state. It’s expected to dump another six to twelve throughout Monday and into early Tuesday.

There have been multiple commuter rail cancellations as well as numerous flight cancellations at Logan.

State offices are closed today as Gov. Charlie Baker instructed non-emergency state personnel to stay home.
