Streaking Bruins ready to battle Maple Leafs

The Bruins went back to work yesterday after capping their 11th win of the month this past weekend.

The B’s are the hottest team in the NHL (11-0-1) and first defending Stanley Cup champions to rattle off 10 straight victories since the New Jersey Devils did it in 2000-01. Not bad for a club that went a dismal 3-7-0 back in October.

Still, coach Claude Julien knows their luck can change on a dime.

“Just like teams that played us early in the year, we’re not the same team anymore,” Julien told the team’s website. “That’s how you make sure you don’t get too overconfident, by understanding that there’s some highs and lows during the season.”

The B’s look to keep it going with a crucial home-and-home against Toronto. The Leafs have lost to the Bruins by a combined score of 13-2 in two previous meetings this season. However, Toronto entered last night’s action with a one-point lead over Boston in the Northeast Division standings. The two clubs will square off Wednesday in Toronto, then again Saturday at TD Garden.

“Right now we’re playing yo-yo with these guys,” said Julien. “This is an opportunity here, in these next two games, if we want to spread that gap a little bit.”
