Subway shop robber charged

A city man faces charges after police investigated four robberies at a Subway restaurant in Riverside south recently.

Police said yesterday they investigated robberies at the Subway in the 600 block of Earl Armstrong Road on March 21 and 25, April 13 and May 11. In all instances, the suspect was carrying a firearm and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries in any of the robberies.

Police arrested a man Tuesday and charged him with four counts of each robbery, intimidation and possession of a firearm to commit an offense. He faces additional charges of pointing a firearm, wearing a disguise and conspiracy.

Peter Vanderhoek, 20, appeared in court Wednesday.
