Suds on tap at this year’s Beerfest

Whether you prefer a lager or a stout, rejoice, because Beerfest is here.

The Edmonton International Beerfest, presented by Loudcity, takes over the Shaw Conference Centre ttomorrow and Saturday, with about 300 different beers on offer.

Sean Farmer, manager of Loudcity and the Beerfest event, explained that along with great games and eight different bands for some live music, those who attend will get to sample a variety of beer.

After paying an admission fee, 50-cent sample tickets can be purchased. Then these sample tickets can be used to buy four-ounce samples from different beer vendors. Samples will range in ticket price, depending on each product.

In its fourth year, Farmer said that the Beerfest just keeps on growing.

“Every single year we are just getting bigger,” he said. “We started four or five years ago with a show of 1,500 to 3,000 people who showed up, and now we will get 10,000 to 12, 000 people.

We have more bands, we have more vendors, we have more beer and we’ll have more people.”

Beer may not be for everyone, but that shouldn’t stop you from coming to check out other attractions at the event.

“I guarantee you that you will find something,” said Farmer. “There’s strawberry beer, and we also do have some coolers on site, a little bit of wine and some spirits.”

Farmer explained that the last three years have been sellouts, and they expect the same for this year. Only a few tickets are still available on Ticketmaster, and they are going fast.
