Supreme Court settles Canucks ownership issue

The Supreme Court of Canada has dismissed an appeal from Tom Gaglardi and Ryan Beedie in their long-running dispute with Francesco Aquilini over the ownership of the Vancouver Canucks.

Prior to Aquilini’s purchase of the team — he bought a 50 per cent stake in November 2004 and full ownership in November 2006 — Aquilini, Gaglardi and Beedie had unsuccessfully pursued a deal to purchase the hockey club together from former owner, John McCaw Jr.
Gaglardi and Beedie contended that Aquilini had used information in their initial dealings in his successful bid.

The two had previously lost appeals at the B.C. Supreme and Appeal courts.
