T to fix screeching trolleys

A German firm is helping the MBTA fix the screeching wheels of the Mattapan Line trolleys. While taking the turn at the Ashmont Station, the trolleys have long produced a loud squealing that vexes neighbors.

Schrey & Veit GMBH will sell the T vibration absorbers to attach to the wheels. The T’s short-term solution included sprinklers and quilted blankets that muffled the sound.
