Things got heated on Sen. Ted Cruz’s Twitter page on Monday night after the Texas senator, or someone with access to his account, hit the “like” button on a hardcore porn video.
The 2-minute and 20-second video, posted from an account called “Sexuall Posts,” an adult content account that promises “Full-Length HD Porn Posted Every Day.” The clip liked by Cruz’s account is from a longer video produced by the porn website Reality Kings.
Though Cruz, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016 on a “family values” platform, didn’t do anything wrong in terms of Twitter standards — the social media giant prohibits promotion of porn, but doesn’t dictate what users can or cannot like — his communications team was quick to jump on cleanup duty.
“The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter,” Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said.

Technically the video wasn’t posted to Cruz’s account, though the “like” caused “Sexuall Posts” to add ”@TedCruz’s Favorite Porn Account” to its bio, a change that did not go unnoticed by the Twitterverse and quickly caused and the senator’s name to trend on Twitter.
First, he got some love from Sexuall Posts.

Ted Cruz porn scandals
This isn’t Cruz’s first run-in with the adult industry. Cruz raised some eyebrows last year when he talked about that one time he watched porn with Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor during his time as a law clerk for the high court. He’d previously disclosed the tale in his 2015 memoir, but the then-Republican presidential candidate recounted the story at a CNN town hall as his wife and young daughters sat by his side.
“The chapter begins with me watching pornography on the Internet with Sandra Day O’Connor, which was a bit of a bizarre experience,” he told Anderson Cooper.
Earlier in 2016 the Cruz campaign had to pull an attack ad against challenger Sen. Marco Rubio after learning an actress they hired for the commercial was softcore porn actress Amy Lindsay.
And in 2007, then-state solicitor Cruz tried to bar Texans from buying sexy toys arguing, “there is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one’s genitals.”
