Teen gets three-year term for stabbing security guards

A 17-year-old male was handed a three-year sentence for stabbing two security guards at a dance at the Halifax Forum in the summer of 2007.

The male, who was 16 at the time of the incident, was high on Valium and alcohol when he pulled out a knife and attacked four security guards, two of which were stabbed.

The Crown was pushing for an adult sentence of 10 years, but on Friday the judge opted to hand out the maximum youth sentence and not give credit for time served.

The teenager pleaded guilty to attempted murder and aggravated assault at a previous court apperance.
