Teens charged in taxi robbery

Ottawa police charged two males after investigating a taxi robbery last week.

Police said at 4:15 a.m. on June 4, a taxi driver drove two males to the area of Bernard and Queen Mary Streets. Once at the location, the males allegedly produced knives, robbing the driver of cash and phones.

Police arrested two men in the 400 block of Friel Street Wednesday.

Muhamad Alhasi, 19, of Ottawa, faces one count of robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, one count of weapons dangerous, two counts of breach of probation and one count of breach of recognizance. He appeared in court Thursday.

A 17-year-old Ottawa male also faces charges.
