Texas man gets stuck inside ATM, writes ‘help me’ notes to customers

A Texas man found himself trapped in an ATM machine and the only way he was able to let people know was by sending “help me” notes through the receipt slot when someone made a withdraw.

A repairman was changing the lock on the ATM machine around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at a Bank of America in Corpus Christi, Texas and somehow got himself locked inside the small room that contains the machine at a Bank of America on.

You would think he would be able to send a text message or make a phone call, but he had left his phone in his truck.

“He left his phone in his truck, he’s installing a new lock on the door, and he gets locked inside the building where the ATM is,” Officer Richard Olden of Corpus Christi Police told KRISTV 6 News.

Fortunately for him, he did have paper and a pen.

Whenever a bank customer would make a transaction at the ATM, the repairmen would slip the customer a little note along with their receipt.

According to the Washington Post, the repairman wrote “several” help

One of the notes collected by the local television news station read:

“Please help. I’m stuck in here, and I don’t have my phone. Please call my boss,” and he left the number where the boss could be reached.

According to police, some bank customers thought it was a joke until one person decided to call authorities.

“We come out here, and sure enough we can hear a little voice coming from the machine,” Olden said. “So we are thinking this is a joke. It’s got to be a joke,” he added.

When the police arrived, they began talking to the serviceman through the ATM machine. They were able to get his boss’s number and call him.

When he arrived, they kicked the door down and the repairman was set free. “But you’ll never see this again in your life,” Olden said. “It was just crazy,” Officer Olden added.
