The Real Deal ready to defend title at home

MMA Fight fans won’t have to get mad if they aren’t able to wrestle tickets away for TFC 10: High Octane on Friday.

“We are very excited about this card for many reasons,” said Dean Panas, spokesperson for The Fight Club. “Not only for the fights in general, but the fact that we’re going to be live on Pay-Per-View across North America.”

The PPV card will feature several top MMA superstars, including TFC world light heavyweight champion Victor Valimaki, UFC veteran Tim (Thrashing Machine) Hague, The Ultimate Fighter finalist Tommy (Farmboy) Speer and Edmonton’s own Ryan (The Real Deal) Ford.

“Obviously I want to keep my title,” said Ford, the TFC world welterweight champion. “I have to bring it to him a little harder because he’s not taking my belt away in the City of Champions.”

Ford will take his 11-2 record into the cage against Speer in Friday’s co-main event.

“He’s a big 170-pounder, so I’m pretty sure he hits hard,” Ford said about his opponent. “Other than that, he’s just a wrestler, so all I have to be worried about is his takedown.”

Tickets for High Octane are available through Ticketmaster at 780-451-8000.
