Thousands of comic book, science-fiction and fantasy fans are descending on Halifax this weekend for Hal-Con 2010.
The Friday-to-Sunday convention at the Lord Nelson Hotel will feature actor Walter Koenig from the original Star Trek, Denise Crosby from Star Trek: The Next Generation and the world’s “No. 1 fantasy model,” Drakaina Muse.
The event will also feature movies, art shows, a masquerade ball, workshops, gaming and a charity auction.
Muse, who is from France but now lives in Halifax, said she loves North American sci-fi conferences because fans here don’t mind showing their enthusiasm.
“In France, there are geeks for sure, but they don’t act on it,” she said.
“I love meeting them in person. A lot of them, rather than talking about obvious, you know, features of Drakaina, will talk about how I inspired them and the strength of the characters.”
