The Word: Now that she’s sane, Spears is attacked for not being crazy

After mixed reviews and speculation that the show’s producers were planning to oust her, Britney Spears has decided to leave “The X Factor” after one season, according to Us Weekly. Sources say Simon Cowell and the shows other bosses were less than thrilled by what they got for their money. Cowell “wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney,” a source says.

Poor Brit-Brit. We all got on her case for being crazy, but now it looks like she’s losing jobs for not being crazy enough. She’ll never win.

Brolin on his classic mug shot

Can we elect Josh Brolin for Man of the Year? It’s nice to hear the truth from an actor and not just lip service. Our love stems from his quotes about his New Year’s Day arrest for public intoxication. “New Year’s — that’s what happened,” he says during a visit to “Good Morning America” about getting busted. “You know, it was New Year’s. It was a pretty innocent thing. It was a fun thing.” If Brolin is upset about anything, it’s the grim-faced mugshot that was released from his arrest. “They don’t show you the other shot where I turn and have a huge smile on my face,” he says.

What lack of diversity??

“Girls” has gotten slammed for the lack of diversity, but is the criticism fair? Not really, says executive producer Jenni Konner. “We had already started addressing the diversity question, had already started expanding our cast, and booked Donald Glover already,” she says about Season 2. “It wasn’t a reaction [to the criticism]. But, I also didn’t want to go to the press while it was going on and say, ‘Hey! We have Donald Glover coming.’ That didn’t feel right either.”
