The Word: Seth Meyers, Obama dish out jokes

At the White House Correspondent’s Association Gala Saturday night, the annual black-tie fete for politicians, the media elite and celebrities, President Barack Obama and “SNL” comic Seth Meyers dished out the mainly Trump-themed jokes to a packed audience which included Paula Abdul, Rosario Dawson, Mila Kunis, Sean Penn, Scarlett Johansson and Cee Lo Green. Here are some of the night’s best zingers:

Katie was known best for asking those tough questions like, ‘Name a newspaper.’” Host Seth
Meyers on Katie Couric leaving CBS, with a nod to her 2008 interview with Sarah Palin

» “Donald Trump said recently he has a great relationship with the blacks, though unless the Blacks are a family of white people, I bet he’s mistaken.” Meyers

» “Donald Trump is here tonight. And I know that he’s taken some flak lately. But no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than ‘The Donald.’” And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter. Like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?” Obama addressing Trump

“I hear she was born in Canada. Yes, Michele, this is how it starts,” Obama mentioning Michele Bachmann’s possible 2012 run

The twins are finally here

Mariah Carey gave birth to twins, a son and a daughter, in Los Angeles Saturday — which was also the anniversary of her wedding to Nick Cannon, according to People. A spokeswoman says the singer’s “We Belong Together” was playing as the babies arrived. Cannon took to Twitter to express his joy, posting, “My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!”
