The Game is so tough, so street and so hard that he shows it by … pranking the Compton police station?
On Friday, the Compton native sent out a message on his Twitter account encouraging his 580,000 followers to call a posted number if they wanted an internship. The phone number was really the official help line for the Compton sheriff’s station.
“It was almost like a symphony of misery. You’ve got a multitude of phones ringing simultaneously,” said headquarters bureau Capt. Mike Parker to the L.A. Times about the prank, which he likened to a “phone flash mob.” During the three-hour cascade of calls asking about the internship, the police station also took legit calls about a missing person, a spousal abuse incident, two robberies and a stolen vehicle, per the Times. Parker, who figured out what was happening rather early, tweeted The Game to have him take down the post, to which the rapper replied: “Yall can track a tweet down but cant solve murders! Dat was an accident but maybe now yall can actually do yall job.”
Is it me or is it hard to do your job when you’re fielding thousands of bogus calls about a fake internship? In my day, illiterate rappers settled their stupid, meaningless scores with illegally obtained weapons, not their Twitter accounts. Next thing you know, Suge Knight is going to start calling 911 to ask them if their fridge is running.
Can Myers still fit into those Powers pants?
If, during the U.K. riots, you thought: “If only Austin Powers were still around” (note: I’m pretty sure none of you thought that), rest assured! Mike Myers has signed a deal to star in a fourth “Austin Powers” movie, according to HitFix. There’s no word on whether Jay Roach, who directed the first three films, will be returning as well. Myers’ last live-action starring role was in 2008’s “The Love Guru,” which was a critical and commercial failure.
Great. Just when people stopped saying, “Yeah, baby!” as a non-hilarious catchphrase, it rears its ugly head again.
