Britney Spears’ new single, “Work B—ch,” came out unexpectedly Sunday, after a leak the day before prompted the singer to release the song earlier than planned.
“Disheartening that one bad apple had to spoil our release for the entire fan community but nonetheless, we hope you love #WORKBxxCH,” her manager Adam Leber tweeted, before announcing the song’s official release a few hours later.
You can listen to the song below. I dig it! It is the only pop song I’ve ever heard about the importance of a strong work ethic, and how it can help you obtain a nice car. “You wanna Maserati/You better work, b—ch,” she sing-talks, Gaga-style.
The only thing I don’t get is Britney seems to be doing a slight Cockney accent that sort of comes in and out throughout the song. I mean, I like that part too. It makes me feel like I’m getting some tough love from a wise chimney sweep. I just don’t get it.
Britney is heading to Las Vegas for a residency this fall, a la Celine Dion. And she talked to Shape about how she’s gearing up for it.
“I’m doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to a lot of cardio — hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez,” she tells Shape. “The [Vegas] performances won’t be simple — they’ll be a massive party from start to finish. And to pull this off, I have to be in top condition and running at full speed.” (Translation: No more Cheetos.)
