Honk! Festival

Back for its 13th year, this annual fest is dedicated to the sweet sounds of street bands. Take part in this brassroots revolution by checking out all the fun activities, including parades, workshops and performances by dozens of bands from across the country. Opening Our Doors 2018

Enjoy a full day of free, cultural activities throughout the Fenway neighborhood when this annual celebration returns in October. The festivities will kick off from the  First Church of Christ Scientist and Mary Baker Eddy Library, with a complementary trolley bringing guests to various sites, such as Evans Way Park and the Museum of Fine Arts. Vistors can also expect musical performances by the New England Conservatory and other groups, guided tours of areas and attractions such as the FOG x FLO installation, arts workshops and more. HubWeek

Arts, science and technology all converge at this annual, week-long festival. This year’s theme is “we the future,” geared towards taking a forward look at how to make the world a better place. A number of talks, panels, workshops and other activities will be on hand, as well as parties, a film fest and more. This year’s lineup will also include an appearance by activist and Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor David Hogg. While general admission tickets are free, they are only available on a first come, first served basis and don’t guarantee entry to all the events. Oct. 8-14, various locations, hubweek.org

Boston Book Festival

Celebrate all things books when this annual fest returns to Copley Square this month. This year’s lineup of presenters includes Kate DiCamillo, Tayari Jones, Doris Kearns Goodwin and dozens of other acclaimed authors. Oct. 13, Copley Square, bostonbookfest.org

Head of the Charles Regatta
