Lewis Black: The Joke’s On Us Tour

The darkest humorist Lewis Black is stopping by City Winery as part of his latest national tour: The Joke’s On Us. Though he typically fills large auditoriums, this weekend you can take part in a rare, intimate evening with the cynic. Expect a scathing takedown of recent events, politics, religion, conventional wisdom and everyday nonsense from one of comedy’s foremost stand-up masterminds. Meet Christian Siriano

You’ll have to play hooky for this one, but it’s worth it. Red-carpet hero Christian Siriano is coming to Queens, and you can not only meet him but the first 25 people in line also get one of his sketches, signed and free! Love Rocks NYC!

An insane amount of musical talent will gather on one stage to raise funds for the nonprofit God’s Love We Deliver during the second annual Love Rocks NYC! This year’s lineup includes the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, Patty Smyth, Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Cheap Trick, Marc Cohn and more, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. The charitable rock, blues and soul concert is going down at the Beacon Theatre this Thursday, with remaining tickets selling out fast. Jazz Age Gala

A Jazz Age theme adds razzle-dazzle to the annual Lincoln Center Young Patrons Gala at The Weylin, Williamsburg’s historic former savings bank with preserved architectural details, from vault doors to vaulted ceilings. Explore a speakeasy and dance to the big sounds of the Sugartone Brass Band and more performers including Lea DeLaria (“OITNB”). Open bar is included and themed attire is encouraged. The Orchid Show returned this month to the New York Botanical Gardens, and this weekend brings the first of several Orchid Evenings, when kids are tucked in for the night and grown-ups have the chance to stroll through the lush exhibit with a drink in hand. While enjoying displays by floral artist Daniel Ost, you can also stop to admire live music and dance performances. The Real 21st Bday of Nicky Siano

A New York City music scene mainstay from the 1970s through today, DJ Nicky Siano is an icon who’s living larger than ever as he comes upon his “Real 21st Bday.” In what’s being called a “Native New Yorker Event” at the Good Room, Siano celebrates his legacy: from being the last original resident DJ at Studio 54 to one of the city’s first disco owners at The Gallery. Tour Westbeth Artists Housing

Since 1970, a unique artist enclave has thrived in the West Village at Westbeth, a building that houses nearly 400 apartments dedicated to providing affordable living spaces for the city’s creative community. This Sunday, you can tour the historic building and look inside the homes and studios of artists who have been working there for six decades as part of the citywide The 60’s: The Years that Changed America festival. Hair Wars

If you’re a fan of shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race or Project Runway, you’ll want to catch the live version at MoMA PS1’s Hair Wars this Sunday. Watch models walk the runway rocking over-the-top looks by designer-stylists, following a tradition that traces back to the 1980s in Detroit and is now touring 20 major cities. Part performance, part sculpture, part fashion, the show highlights a unique slice of subculture. Archival video will also be featured. A Love Letter to Myself

It might sound more Eastern European than Irish, but it’s definitely alcoholic and green: The Vodka and Pickles Festival visits Brooklyn this weekend with two sessions offering unlimited access to mixed drinks and hors d’oeuvres featuring the titular ingredients, plus dancing to live music by Prosspekt, Pasha Newmer and Gypsy Trio, photo ops, art and more.
