No matter where you look, it’s pretty clear that it’s the end of the world as we know it. Instead of despairing, however, cool-kid backpack brand Sprayground has opened the End Of The World Party Pop-Up Shop for all your back-to-school needs — because it would figure that even while the world burns, you’ve still gotta do that math homework.
You can’t miss the shop wrapped in red leopard print now open at 5 Times Square, on the corner of 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue. The End Of The World Party Pop-Up features 160 styles, including the latest Back to School collection that has already sold out some of its pieces online — but you’ll find them in stock here.
Besides its own designs overseen by founder and creative director David Ben David, Sprayground also collaborates with the NBA and franchises like Rick & Morty.

As part of the apocalyptic fun inside — which besides being the right theme of our current moment also nods to the brand’s commitment to never reprint its styles, so when they’re gone they’re gone — are four giant statues. Lording over shoppers is a 10-foot-tall Transformer-style figure made of Sprayground luggage, while followers of the brand will recognize the 7-foot statues of Sprayground characters including Dragon Bear and Gold Astronaut.
Known for its loud and colorful backpacks — a hybrid of Lisa Frank, Ed Hardy and a cartoonish sensibility all its own — Sprayground largely operates online with occasional pop-ups, which makes the Times Square pop-up a rare chance to see their packs up close. Or just get a selfie with some giant cartoon statues surrounded by reminders that the world is turning, and either we turn with it or miss out.
The Sprayground pop-up shop is located at 5 Times Square and will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. now through Sunday, Aug. 26.
