A 24-year-old man has become
the third alleged Ottawa
street gang
member deported by the Canada Border Services Agency in the past year.
On Jan. 28, CBSA officers
sent Omar Gather to the United Arab Emirates.
Gather, who is allegedly
associated with the Ledbury-Banff Crips, had been convicted of 31 offences
including assault causing bodily harm, obstructing a peace officer, failing to
attend court, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a
controlled substance. He also had three assault and misconduct charges laid
while incarcerated.
In July 2008, 27-year-old Remy Maliragora was sent
back to Rwanda, and in Jan. 2008, 23-year-old Sharmarke Ali was sent
to Ethiopia.
