Three escape house fire in Lower Prospect

Three people escaped without injury after fire damaged the interior of their home in Lower Prospect yesterday morning.

Halifax regional fire platoon chief Mike Blackburn said they were called to the blaze at 2151 Lower Prospect Road at 7:17 p.m. and when they arrived, smoke was coming out of the back of the home.

He said when they entered, fire had gone to the ceiling, but it was extinguished a short time later.

Blackburn said a resident inside the home called in the fire, which is currently being investigated to determine a cause, adding“there’s nothing suspicious.”

As for damage, Blackburn said the home isn’t a write-off.

“It did extend into two bedrooms and the ceiling,” he explained. “But any of the structural damage can be repaired.”
