Three injured after ceiling collapse

Three people were injured when a ceiling collapsed this afternoon, according to the FDNY.

An FDNY spokesman told Metro that around 1:40 p.m., a section of the third-floor ceiling at a building near 30th Street and Lexington Avenue collapsed.

One person had to be excavated from scaffolding, according to the spokesman.

That person and two others were taken to the hospital, he said, and another refused medical treatment.

According to the Office of Emergency Management, Lexington Avenue was closed between 30th Street and 31st Street.
