Thursday’s QMJHL roundup

Mark Barberio scored the game-winning goal on the power play in the third to lift the Moncton Wildcats over the Victoriaville Tigres 2-1 Thursday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Scott Brannon also scored for the Wildcats (34-11-4) while short handed, with Barberio picking up an assist. Brannon has 28 goals this season.

Moncton capitalized once on five opportunities with the man advantage, while Victoriaville went 0-for-4 on the power play.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Baie-Comeau 4 Gatineau 2; Drummondville 7 Chicoutimi 2; and Rouyn-Noranda 2 Montreal 1 (OT).

At Moncton, N.B., Joel Chouinard had the lone goal for the Tigres – his 19th of the season, with Travis McIsaac picking up the assist.

Wildcats goaltender Nicola Riopel made 27 saves on 28 shots for the win.

Kevin Poulin made 26 saves for Victoriaville (34-15-2).

Drakkar 4 Olympiques 2

At Gatineau, Que., Antoine Laperriere scored the goal-ahead goal for Baie-Comeau in a win over the Olympiques.

David Cliche, Simon Olsson and Mike Villeneuve also scored for the Drakkar (16-30-3).

Yoan Pinette and Joshua Domingues countered for Gatineau (23-21-5).

Voltigeurs 7 Sagueneens 2

At Drummondville, Que., Philippe Lefebvre had a hat trick to pace the Voltigeurs in a rout over Chicoutimi.

Benoit Levesque, Andrew Randazzo, Sean Couturier and Marc-Antoine Desnoyers also scored for Drummondville (34-14-2).

Mathieu Populus and Dominic Jalbert replied for the Sagueneens (18-23-8).

Huskies 2 Junior 1 (OT)

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Sergey Ostapchuk scored 2:15 into overtime as the Huskies edged Montreal.

Jordan Caron had the other goal for Rouyn-Norando in the first period.

Trevor Parkes tied it up on the power play in the second for the Junior (24-20-4).

Jean-Francois Berube made 40 saves for Montreal, while Nicholas Champion stopped 26 of 27 for the Huskies (29-18-4).
