Touchdown Atlantic almost set for kickoff

The Edmonton Eskimos are loaded with Maritime connections as they prepare for Touchdown Atlantic at Moncton Stadium.

Edmonton’s roster features two Saint Mary’s graduates: Linebacker/long snapper Tim St. Pierre and safety Saleem Borhot; former Acadia defensive back Elliott Richardson and offensive lineman Adam Rogers; and St. Francis Xavier alumni Corbin Sharun at safety.

Rogers is on the practice roster, while Borhot is on the injured list.

Moncton Stadium is sold out and will house 20,000 fans for Sunday’s 1 p.m. tilt between the Eskimos and Toronto Argonauts.

“You’re going to see one of the most rowdy crowds you’ll ever see,” Rogers told the Edmonton Journal earlier this week. “They love football and they love to party. It will be a good time, for sure.”

It’s the first regular-season, neutral-site game in CFL history as the league ponders expansion into Atlantic Canada.
