“Bones”

DRAMA. What begins as a Brennan-mandated contest among the “squinterns” to identify remains becomes a reflection on 9/11 as a victim of the 2001 terrorist attack is finally ID’ed.

8 p.m., Fox

“Oliver Stone’s Untold History of the United States”

DOCUMENTARY. In this 10-part docuseries, politically minded director Oliver Stone explores the stories that history books have ignored, but nonetheless affected major events of the 20th century.

Miniseries premiere, 8 .m., Showtime

“Teen Mom 2”

REALITY. The girls’ stories (and Us Magazine cover stories: sigh) continue as Season 3 picks up.

Season premiere, 10 p.m., MTV

“Adventure Time”

COMEDY. How does a cartoon with a major character named Lady Rainicorn — a half-rainbow, half-unicorn creature — get even more brilliantly weird? Tonight’s episode picks up after the cliffhanger finale in which hero Finn and his dog Jake were pulled through an inter-dimensional portal (yes, cartoons now have cliffhanger finales), as they now try to find their way back home.

Season premiere, 7:30 p.m., Cartoon Network
