Two teenagers charged in Dartmouth drive-by shooting

Two teenagers have been charged in relation to a drive-by shooting in Dartmouth on Thursday.

Just after 9 p.m., a Cadillac SUV with one occupant and Nissan Sentra with two were travelling on Main Street near the Forest Hill Parkway. According to police, the Sentra pulled alongside the SUV and one occupant opened fire, hitting the SUV four or five times.

The driver of the SUV made a U-turn in an attempt to evade the Sentra, which gave pursuit. Halifax Regional Police, unaware of shots fired at the time, saw the driver of the Sentra run a red light and attempted to pull the driver over.

The driver allegedly attempted to outrun police before rear-ending another vehicle on Auburn Drive. Although police say the crash caused a significant amount of damage to both vehicles, nobody was injured.

Both occupants of the Sentra allegedly attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly taken into custody.

The SUV involved in the incident was later located in North Preston, and has been seized by police for further examination. The occupant of the vehicle was not at the scene, but is not believed to have been injured in the incident.

A 19-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger face numerous charges.
