U of T student wins award

Jasmeet Sidhu didn’t consider herself a feminist until she started exploring issues like gender inequity in politics, violence against women and inequality in the business world. But once she began researching them there was no holding back this University of Toronto student.

The third-year student, first got interested in feminism while serving as the youngest member of the Toronto Star Community Editorial Board in 2007.

Now Sidhu, 21, is this year’s winner of the Michele Landsberg Award, which is given out annually by the Canadian Women’s Foundation.
