‘Undressed’ to impress: Boston’s Beehive to buzz with burlesque

As part of Boston Fashion Week’s Fashion Trail, a local Bohemian-style bar is inviting guests to take a break from watching clothes on the runway, and instead take a peek at what’s underneath.

Three New York-based burlesque performers known as Medianoche, Calamity Chang and Bettina May, will take the stage at The Beehive on Tremont Street tonight to perform “Undressed: Fashion Burlesque,” a show that promoters describe as “delectable visions of undraped loveliness.”

Each female performer will pay tribute to iconic fashion periods and fads, like the classic American pin-up era of the 1940s and 1950s, and Spanish flamenco.

Chang, a New York-based performer who is also known as “The Asian Sexsation,” will pay tribute to 1920’s vintage Shanghai fashion.

“I love the Boston clientele. You can tell they are educated, and liberal arts fans. Its not like working with a variety of awful people that I’ve had to perform for,” Chang said shortly before boarding the Amtrak from New York with her stage mates.

The ladies take the stage at 8 p.m., and the show runs until midnight. There is a cash bar, and no cover.
