As 2009 draws to a close, Ottawa police are looking for the public’s assistance in a few unsolved cases from this year.
Police continue to investigate two recent fatal collisions.
Last Friday at about 8:43 p.m., a 58-year-old Ottawa man was crossing Bank Street north of Kilborn Avenue when he was struck and killed by a northbound grey Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Collision investigators are seeking witnesses. No charges have been laid.
On Nov. 27, a collision between a motorcycle and car at Richmond Road and High Street killed a 44-year-old David Wray of Carleton Place.
Police seek a vehicle of interest, a light silver or grey four-door vehicle believed to be an Acura 3.2 TL with dents or damage in the area of the lower right-side passenger doors. Police are following up on tips and said they are visiting the owners of vehicles matching the description.
Police also continue to investigate several homicide cases from previous years.
A pair of brown-framed Foster Grant reading glasses found near Lincoln Heights Park are still the only lead in relation to the Pamela Kosmack homicide, said Ottawa Police Const. Al Boucher. Kosmack, 39, was found murdered near a west-end bicycle path on June 4, 2008.
It’s been two-and-a-half years since police discovered the bodies of retired tax judge Alban Garon, his wife Raymonde and their neighbour, Marie-Claire Beniskos in Garon’s Riverside Drive condo.
Police are also looking for assistance in the Paul Simard homicide. The 63-year-old Commissionaire was found bound in the basement of his Meadowlands Drive home in April 2007.
