UPDATED: Regular service resumes on Red Line after man killed by train at JFK/UMass

A man died Monday afternoon when he was struck by an inbound Red Line train at the JFK/UMass MBTA stop a little after 2:30 p.m.

Service at the stop was interrupted for two hours and the T shuttled hundreds of passengers on buses between JFK and North Quincy. Regular service resumed at 4:30 p.m. and the MBTA reported residual delays.

The victim has not been identified. The T said in a statement they do not suspect foul play.

Metro was on scene as a witness told firefighters he saw the man jump down into the pit and lay across the tracks as the train approached. That witness was visibly shaken and was later taken to the hospital.
