While the value of building permits went up in Ontario and Canadawide in August, permits went down in Ottawa in that same time period.
In Ontario, building permits totalled $5 billion in August, up 7.2 per cent from the month before, Statistics Canada said yesterday.
In Ottawa, August permits were valued at $159.6 million, down 2.4 per cent from the month before, when permits were valued at $163.7 million. However, just across the river, Gatineau saw an increase in the value of permits, jumping from $30.1 million in July to $35.6 million in August.
