Victoria Stafford’s dad buoyed by case mention on American TV show

WOODSTOCK, Ont. – Victoria Stafford’s father says he is glad the case of his daughter’s disappearance was on the TV show “America’s Most Wanted.”

The show aired a brief clip about the missing eight-year-old girl from Woodstock, Ont., on Saturday night.

It was just a few seconds long and did not air a surveillance tape showing Victoria with an unidentified woman or a composite sketch police have released.

But Rodney Stafford says what matters is that the story has now spread further and so many more people have seen her face.

Investigators in Woodstock have received more than 1,500 tips and police say about 25 came in between 6 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.

The Grade 3 student vanished after leaving her school on April 8 and police have not yet been able to identify a woman seen with her in surveillance video.
