VIDEO: Man one-ups every YouTube marriage proposal ever

Hang on: Is this a marriage proposal or an audition tape? Hollywood actor Justin Baldoni planned possibly the world’s most elaborate marriage proposal to his girlfriend Emily and caught it all on video. The proposal started with a plan to meet at the restaurant where they had their first date, Blu Jam Cafe in Los Angeles, but Baldoni was a little late to dinner.

Instead, Emily sat in the restaurant in front of a TV as she watched Baldoni make his way toward her. The over-the-top, highly produced program included an interview at a radio station with Baldoni and the actor got to show off his vocal skills in music video remakes of ‘N Sync’s “God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You,” Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You” and ABBA’s “Dancing Queen.”

The video then spoofed last year’s viral flashmob proposal set to Bruno Mars’ “Marry You,” and transported Baldoni through a fourth dimension wormhole, “Men in Black” style.

Finally, more than halfway through the 27-minute YouTube video, there were some cute videos of Emily as Baldoni finally made his way to the exterior of the restaurant. When Baldoni walked into the cafe, he said to his girlfriend, “I have a whole lot I want to say,” and every YouTube user watching at home screamed, “NO!” Thankfully, Baldoni passed on adding more commentary to the already drawn-out proposal.

In fairness to Baldoni, he did display some self-awareness when he said of the video, “That’s for me – you don’t care about that stuff.” Unsurprisingly, Baldoni is now an engaged man with an updated Wikipedia page and appearances on a few daytime talk shows to boot.

Though the video is rather sappy, it’s still an entertaining watch and great for members of the People Who Love Watching YouTube Proposals subculture.
