One actress’s acceptance speech at this year’s Emmy Awards is being hailed as the best ever.
Merritt Wever won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for “Nurse Jackie” on Sunday night, but all the attention is now on her short and sweet acceptance speech.
“Oh, my God,” Wever said. “Thank you. Thanks so much. Thank you so much. Um, I gotta to go. Bye.”
“Merritt Wever. Best speech ever,” host Neil Patrick Harris quipped.
When asked about her quick exit backstage, the actress reportedly said the award was unexpected but that she wished to thank everyone at Showtime and the show’s star, Edie Falco.
“It’s hard to do those,” she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I’m scared. I’m scared. It was unexpected. I don’t know how to feel yet. I mean, I have therapy next week.”
