Video shows dog viciously beaten

Police yesterday released security video of a man caught repeatedly and viciously kicking his girlfriend’s tiny Chihuahua mix.

The stomach-turning tape shows Chris Grant, 21, kicking the dog across an elevator, then dragging the cowering 10-pound female pooch back toward him and slapping his leg to coax it into jumping up for him. When it did, he kicked it again repeatedly. He then dragged the animal out of the elevator in the Grant Houses in Morningside Heights.

After a stop at a nearby deli, cameras caught Grant return with the dog and continue kicking it around the elevator until it lay still.

The dog was treated by the ASPCA and survived. Grant’s girlfriend reportedly did not believe the story until cops showed her video.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly yesterday recognized five officers in the NYPD’s VIPER Unit that monitor’s public housing security cameras for their role in capturing Grant, who was arrested Monday and charged with torturing an animal and resisting arrest. He was freed on $1,000 bail.

The officers also were recognized for their work in helping arrest Alejandro Morales who is charged the stabbing murder of Anthony Maldonado, 9, at the same complex.
