TORONTO – Views for Walk Off The Earth’s five-musicians-on-one-guitar cover of the song “Somebody That I Used To Know” got another major boost on Monday.
The Burlington, Ont.-based band appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to perform their version of the Gotye song, which went viral on YouTube.
Their cover has surpassed 35 million views in less than three weeks.
The song also made it atop the iTunes Canada singles chart.
While some skeptics questioned whether the band used any post-production trickery in their viral video, the five-piece pulled off a live performance on the “Ellen” show.
They were also rewarded with a thank-you gift from DeGeneres: five Fender electric guitars and amps so the band no longer has to share the one acoustic.
