Two shootings this weekend that occurred only hours apart left one man dead and another critically wounded.
The first shooting took place outside of a triple-decker home at 37 Ellington St. in Dorchester, police said. The 7:42 p.m. shooting left a 24-year-old man dead. It was the city’s seventh homicide this year, compared to 11 at this time last year.
A man leaving the home yesterday morning said he didn’t hear anything except a man come down the back stairway saying someone had been shot.
Detectives returned to the home yesterday to serve a search warrant and look for evidence.
The second shooting occurred about three hours later at a hair salon on Blue Hill Avenue, less than a block away from the Mattapan police station.
That man, in his 30s, was seriously wounded.
Police were still searching for the gunmen.
