Good Samaritans grab the wrong guy

Two people driving in Plainfield, NJ leaped out of their car to hold down a man that appeared to be assaulting a woman on the street.

The two thought they were doing the right thing, and held the 26-year-old man until police came.

The problem: that man was the victim of a crime, not the perpetrator. A woman had robbed him of about $400 cash an his gold chain, valued about $500. Before he could pursue, the would-be good Samaritans detained the victim.

The female remains at large. The two passer-by will not face charges. They say the victim was intoxicated and spoke limited English, which complicated the situation.

You’re the machine we’re raging against

Paul Ryan has been in the news A LOT lately…as millions analyze the new vice presidential nominee. There have been discussions about how his clothes are too big, his stance on taxes, and his affinity for rock and roll, especially Rage Against the Machine.

Tom Morello took to the pages of Rolling Stone magazine to sound off on that…saying he doesn’t want Ryan as a fan.

Here’s some highlights from his letter:

….Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades…

…I wonder what Ryan’s favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of “F*** the Police”? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!

…Don’t mistake me, I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta “rage” in him: A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment. Basically the only thing he’s not raging against is the privileged elite he’s groveling in front of for campaign contributions….

The hills are alive…with the sound of yodeling

Organizers in alpine country have come up with a new way of getting hikers to yodel in the hills of Austria.

At existing rest stops, local hotel owner Christian Eder has installed yodeling speaker boxes.?Hikers can hear a recorded yell in two-part harmony, or choose to listen to each part separately.

Eder told Austrian broadcaster ORF he just wants “to get people to loosen up a bit with a simple yodel.”

Woman blames fake twin for hotel thefts

A Pennsylvania woman is facing charges after blaming her non-existent twin sister for stealing from a Big Beaver hotel room.

According to police reports, employees went to clean a Holiday Inn room rented by 31-year-old Jennifer Brown and discovered two comforters, two throw blankets, four pillows, an alarm clock, a coffeepot, a basket and a hair dryer, valued at a total of $206, missing.

Officers found Ms. Brown at the nearby Alpine Inn, where she said her twin sister, Lisa Brown, had taken the items.

Police searched for a record of Lisa Brown, but could not find a woman with the same birth date as Jennifer. They went back to the Alpine Inn, where Jennifer said her sister had contacted her and was bringing the items back.

Officers were suspicious of that story and searched the room, where they found the items in a clear garbage bag behind the door.

The real Ms. Brown now faces theft and false report charges.
