WFAN host Craig Carton arrested for fake ticket scheme

WFAN radio personality and co-host of the Boomer & Carton Show, Craig Carton, was arrested early Wednesday morning at his Manhattan home by the FBI on securities and wire fraud charges.

WPIX was first to report that Carton was involved in a $2 million fake tickets scheme before Jonathan Dienst of NBC New York 4 added that the host and another man “claimed to be running a discount ticket broker business that never existed.”

Obviously, Carton was not on the popular morning sports talk show on Wednesday. Jerry Recco filled in for him.

His co-host, former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, said that Carton was feeling under the weather, which was why he wasn’t able to be on the show.

CBS Radio, which owns WFAN, released a statement on the matter to the Daily News

“We are aware of the situation and are cooperating with authorities.”

Carton teamed up with Esiason in 2007 and became a marquee tandem on WFAN, which was of great importance for the station considering Mike and the Mad Dog, the most successful radio program ever, ended just a year later.

The 48-year-old Carton is known as an agitator on the air as his brash personality and timely acumen made him a must-listen personality.
