A whale was seen in the vicinity of the Statue of Liberty Thursday morning, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The agency issued a warning to boaters after the whale was spotted around 8 a.m. near Liberty Island, according to the New York Daily News. The USCG was not able to determine what type of whale it was as it wasn’t seen again after the initial sighting.
