Jeremy Shockey’s salary last year was $3.25 million. He’s slated to make 3.825 million this year with the Saints. He’s a fixture on the Las Vegas party scene, and has dated some famous women (see: model Vida Guerra, actress Tara Reid).
So, what is Shockey doing holding a contest on Facebook looking for a date? Here’s what he posted on his Facebook fan page recently:
“Ok LADIES heres the contest … Post a video on the “just fans” section of my fbk fan page explaining why u deserve to have me take u on a date 1 nite this offseason … Contest ends sun night 4/18 at 8pm est.”
After a flood of responses, Shockey backtracked on the word “date” and turned it into “dinner.” Because what millionaire athlete wants to look desperate enough to date women off the Internet? Women also took umbrage with the fact that he used the word “deserve,” so Shockey had to address that:
“i didnt mean it in an egotistical way … i just meant why u deserve to win the contest over other people who enter!!!”
The next time someone writes an essay about why athletes should stay off the Internet, please include Mr. Shockey. There is no way this ends well.
LIFE WITHOUT KIM
Sticking with the Saints, it appears as if Reggie Bush has moved on from paparazzi queen Kim Kardashian.
According to newspapers in Las Vegas, Bush was in Sin City this past weekend with his new girlfriend, a singer named Jessie James. The book on James? The 22-year-old was born in Italy, grew up in Atlanta, has posed for Maxim and opened for the Jonas brothers. If you’re unable to Google her right now, she’s a cross between Vanessa Hudgens and a young Penelope Cruz.
