Wind Mobile founder chases his dream

The winds of change are blowing through the wireless communications industry. Can you feel it? WIND Mobile is the brainchild of 36-year-old entrepreneur Anthony Lacavera. He is out to change the wireless industry in Canada and challenge the way Bell, Rogers and Telus do business. Or, as Lacavera puts it, “It’s time someone shook them up.”

If you want to run with the big boys you have to create your own turning point. After months of persistent phone calls Lacavera finally found himself in front of Egyptian wireless billionaire Naguib Sawiris. After hearing Lacavera’s pitch, Sawiris decided he liked the passionate Canadian. Lacavera suddenly had the $700 million in capital he needed to push Globalive to the next level.

WIND Mobile launched in December of 2009 and now has more than 100,000 customers.

“My dream is for Globalive to become the fourth largest telecommunication company in Canada.”

A new year has begun. Do you have dreams and hopes for the future like Anthony Lacavera? Go for it. Craft your vision and then find a way to get it done. Make 2011 a turning point for you.
