Worcester man accused of accosting teen girls in custody: Police

Police in Worcester report they have found the man accused of accosting three teen girls on Wednesday.

Fredy Cruz, 22, of Worcester was taken into custody Thursday morning, police said in a Facebook post. Cruz, who was wearing the same clothes described by the victims and was walking in the same area where the alleged incidents happened, was approached by officers and agreed to return to police headquarters to be questioned. During his interview Cruz “acknowledged that he was involved in the incidents on Apricot Street,” according to authorities.

Cruz is accused of accosting three young girls while they walked through a wooded area off of Apricot street on Wednesday, reports say.

The first two separate incidents involved a South High School student and a Sullivan Middle School student, police reported. Both of the victims said they were accosted by the same man and resisted him until he fled.

The third incident involved another South High School student who said she was accosted by the same man as the other two victims, WHDHreported.

According to police, Cruz was charged with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of assault and battery, and enticing a child under 16.
