After being robbed in his native Louisiana, Seth Froom vowed it would not happen again. The result was the Yellow Jacket iPhone case, an inbuilt stun gun that can deliver a 650,000-volt shock and liberate us all from the threat of street crooks.

Now on release with $250,000 worth sold, Froom, 24, told us all about it.

Q: Will I be able to destroy my enemies with this?

A: It’s not going to kill anyone, it’s designed as a defense weapon. Apply it to the torso and it buys you time to get away. The attacker will be incapacitated for up to a minute, depending on how long it is applied for and if the attacker has narcotics in their system.

Q: Must be quite a long instruction manual?

A: It’s pretty straightforward – check the safety, press the button, back away. I wouldn’t advise using it against someone with a gun.

Q: Have you been shocked with it?

A: Yes, everyone in the company has – it’s a burning, stinging sensation but you’re back to normal pretty soon.

Q: What’s next, flamethrower iPads?

A: We will continue to make more powerful stun guns but want to stay with non- lethal solutions. I want to stay out of the gun market.

Q: What does the NRA [National Rifle Association] think?

A: I’m not sure but there’s been a positive response from dealers and gun stores. Also, customers say it’s been a great last line of defense for them, particularly women and students.

Q: What? Are you not worried about drunken students rampaging on ‘shocking’ sprees?

A: This isn’t the most effective way to do damage, there are other weapons for that.
