A judge gave the green light for Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancee of convicted murderer and former New England Patriot star tight end Aaron Hernandez permission to change her last name to Hernandez.

According to NECN, the Rhode Island probate judge granted the request to allow her to go by Jenkins-Hernandez so that she might have the same last name as their 2-year-old daughter Avielle.

Hernandez was found guilty of killing Odin Llyod and is said to have shot a former associate who was present for the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Sairo Furtad. in the South End.

Hernandez allegedly shot the man in the face on the morning of Feb. 13, 2013 and left him for dead on the side of the road in Riviera Beach, Florida, after he made comment about the homicides. The man survived the shooting. under indictment for two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed assault with intent to murder, one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Those indictments, returned May 15, 2014, represent de Abreu’s and Furtado’s homicides and shots fired at three surviving victims, including a 26-year-old man who was hit but not killed, during the incident on Shawmut Avenue in the early hours of July 16, 2012.
