Red Sox boss Dave Dombrowski has been one of the more active front office executives in baseball in the past month, so it came as no surprise Monday that he made a deal ahead of the 4 p.m. MLB trade deadline.

The Sox landed relief pitcher Fernando Abad from the Twins Monday, according to Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball. Abad has a 2.65 ERA on the season with 29 K's, a 1.21 WHIP and one save. He owns a 1-4 record.

Abad has been consistently solid for the lowly Twins as his only ugly outing of 2016 was a June 18 game against the Yankees in which he allowed three earned runs.
