A suspect has been identified by police in Sunday’s hit-and-run in Worcester that left an elderly couple with serious injuries, the Boston Herald reported.

Though the identity of the suspect has not been released, police say that descriptions of the vehicle and the registration plates have made headway in the investigation.

The incident happened on Quinsigamond Avenue around 12:30p.m. Sunday when a 58-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were struck by a minivan, CBS Boston reported.

“They were shopping at the flea market, and as they were coming out, there was a lady backing up [who] ran over the couple,” witness Rey Rivera told CBS Boston. “The daughter was screaming, telling the lady to stop, banging on the window.”

According to Rivera, it seemed as though the woman knew what she had done and panicked and drove away.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
