The Boston Pops made major pre-summer announcements today — including the upcoming guest performers for the Pops-produced 2017 Fireworks Spectacular at the DCR’s Hatch Memorial Shell.
"Fresh Eyes" singer-songwriter Andy Grammer and two-time Grammy winner Melissa Etheridge will join conductor Keith Lockhart and the Pops for the Fourth of July concert that precedes the annual fireworks presentation. Grammer and Etheridge follow in the footsteps of last summer's top 40-centric lineup of with Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas.
Asset management firm Eaton Vance has stepped up as presenting sponsor of the Hatch Shell tradition (following the departure of longtime sponsor, philanthropist David Mugar), with Bloomberg signing on as a media partner — meaning you can stream this year's presentation on their app and on their site. Both sponsors have agreed to three-year commitments with the Pops' annual event.
"The Boston Pops’ new partnership with Eaton Vance shows what can be achieved when two great Boston institutions join forces to continue to bring Boston’s legacy July 4 event to audiences far and wide across the country and around the globe," said Lockhart in a release. "Our new media partnership with Bloomberg opens up new possibilities for the Pops to share its singular music-making and the event’s spectacular fireworks show to a greater national and international audience."
The 2017 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular starring Andy Grammer and Melissa Etheridge will take place — of course — on July 4, 2017 at the DCR Hatch Memorial Shell and will air live on Bloomberg and Bloomberg.com.
