Jon Snow knows nothing, not even his name

As fans of the HBO series may remember, the season six finale finally revealed that Jon Snow isn’t so much Ned Stark’s bastard. He’s more like, the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Juicy! And now, news has broken about Snow’s real name and it’s pretty cool.

Of course, Reddit has all the answers. First, last year, a Reddit user provided a detailed breakdown of why she believes Jon Snow’s real name is the very exotic, very luxurious Jaeharys Targaryen.

Lyanna starts by whispering, ‘His name is,” and then what follows appears to be a three syllable word that appears to start with a J. I’m not a great lip-reader, but I’m fairly certain what she says is Jaehaerys…This makes a lot of sense as a name (instead of Jon), as both previous Jaehaerys to rule were considered good Kings…If Lyanna was in love with Rhaegar (as seems likely), it makes sense for their son to have a Targaryen traditional name like his siblings Aegon and Rhaenys. Jaehaerys would be a good pick as the name isn’t associated with any real negative connotations, like Aerys, Maegor, etc.

Then, late last week, another Reddit user shared a photo from a leaked page of an upcoming issue of Empire Magazine.

“As we saw in the last episode of Season 6, Bran’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) psychic time-traveling ‘greensight’ revealed the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage and his real name: Jaehaerys Targaryen,” a description below a photo of Bran and Meera reads. “‘Bran’s now in this precarious situation in which it’s just him and Meera (Ellie Kendrick), and he has all of this information that could change the entire story,’ says Hempstead Wright. And it’s not just about Jon. ‘He knows about the origin of the White Walkers, too.'”

Jaehaerys Targaryen, huh? And here we thought Jon Snow couldn’t get any dreamier. Now he has a swoonworthy, fully unpronounceable name. Can this man get any better?
